This course offers students the chance to create good photographs through the use of cameras, (both film and digital), darkroom equipment, chemicals and the use of photographic software. Students will have fun discovering that there is more to photography than taking pictures of friends and family. Creative abilities and experiences will blend together to produce photographs not normally produced by the average person. Concepts in composition along with the Elements of Visual Art, (line, shape, value color. space and texture), along with the Principles of Design, ( balance, unity, variety, movement, emphasis, proportion, and pattern) will be experienced. This course will cover all the basics of photography. Refinements in camera use along with basic photographic software use will be covered through a broad range of assignments. Many of the assignments will allow the students to be creative in producing photographs in a wide range of assignments. This course meets the Fine Art requirement for admissions to the University of California and the California State University systems.
